PLCC Building Reopening Phase effective 8/3/2020

PLCC Protocols for Expanded Reopening

Effective 8/3/20

The following protocols will be enacted for this next expanded phase as the PLCC continues the path towards fully reopening. These protocols regarding the use of church facilities for mid-week meetings & gatherings have been developed with the following considerations in mind: maintaining prudent safety protocols, being responsive to the needs of the many groups that rely on the use of the church facility, being considerate of the workload for the Church Sextons, being sensitive to the community impact that the PLCC & the use of its facilities may have.

·     All persons using the PLCC facilities agree, upon entry into the building, to practice appropriate social distancing & use surgical masks, or equivalent, at all times while inside the building.

·     Any and all midweek use of the PLCC building will be limited to the downstairs areas only.

·     Midweek use of the building will be limited to no more than 2 groups at any one time.

·     In consultation & cooperation with Bob & Michele Baumann (PLCC Sextons / caretakers), the cleaning and disinfecting of the church facilities following the completion of any & all mid-week meetings or activities will be their sole responsibility as they are familiar with all of the disinfecting protocols.

·     Each group will be responsible for cleaning up any trash that they may have brought to the premises & for keeping the areas utilized in the same general condition after use as they were prior to being used.

The PLCC Council & Elders believe that the Life-Groups should not meet in the church at this time. There are at least 8 different groups that typically hold activities in the church (not including the Life-Groups). We believe that these Life-Groups are an essential part of the PLCC ministry & can continue to meet as they have in recent months. It will be up to the individual Life-Groups, led by the host home, to decide whether to meet through video or to convene in-person sessions in their usual locations. As New York enters into more favorable phases, we intend to revisit the Life-Groups use of the facility, should the need arise.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the PLCC Council and the Church Sextons for their help towards this continued reopening, and to you the congregation for your patience, assistance & input during this process. Our call and privilege as True Believers is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind & strength… and love your neighbor as yourself”. This mandate is at the heart of these protocols and our desire is to continue reopening the PLCC in a manner that reflects our commitment to the Lord & to one another. May God bless you all as the Lord Jesus Christ continues to build His church.

Respectfully,                                                                                                           Ralph, Kevin & Joel

PLCC Updates as of Thursday, April 9, 2020

Dear PLCC family,

As we continue following the directives established by state & national authorities for social distancing amid the current COVID-19 pandemic, the PLCC will not conduct any meetings or services for the month of April. We are encouraging you to connect with our Life-Groups and also join us on Sunday mornings at 10am as we worship together or share a brief message via our YouTube channel.

During this interim & in the absence of our Sunday gatherings, some church members have asked us how they might go about contributing their tithes & offerings to the PLCC. In the wake of job & income losses & the general financial hardships suffered by our members, we would not even think to ask for donations at this time and we are not doing so by any means.  We do want to respond to those who have been inquiring & we thought it responsible to at least offer this general reply.

Anyone interested in giving towards the ministry of the PLCC may do so by personal check (mailed to address below), electronic check or by giving online through the PLCC website. Any questions about any of these 3 options can be directed to Eric Torsten, our administrator.

Whatever any of you gives to the Lord is between you and God, and we trust Him to lead us all & provide each & every need as we all endeavor to seek Him above all else. God can redeem any and EVERY situation for His glory & for our good – this situation will be no different… Soli Deo Gloria!

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update as of 3/27/2020

Psalm 133

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! For there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forever.”

As I sit here along with many of you, recovering from the latest incarnation of this coronavirus, I am literally REJOICING at the reports I am hearing. Despite several of us testing positive & dozens of others showing symptoms, what a blessing & a joy it is to witness the love, care & concern that you all have shown for one another during this historic crisis! None of us would necessarily have chosen to experience these hardships, yet I am so thankful to be a part of a body that is committed to truly walking in the grace & humility to which the Lord has called us.

It is particularly encouraging to see the connections that are being made through our PLCC Life-Groups – it is an answer to prayer & it PRECISELY how they are intended to function. During this time in which we are prevented from gathering at the church building or for any other church group meetings, it is comforting to know that people are not isolated from their church body. Some Life-Groups are praying daily at specified times as they share of their physical needs & prayer concerns. Others have joined in live group chats and are praying for one another through the Group-Me app. There are multiple options & it doesn’t make any sense to be disconnected from one another during this pandemic.

If you have not yet connected with one of the PLCC Life-Groups in recent months, it’s not too late to do so, and this is as good a time as any! Please reach out to one of the Life-Group facilitators listed below (or reach out to me & Eric) in order to get connected, pray for one another or share what’s going on in your current experience. We would count it a privilege to pray for you, connect you to other members or look for ways to help & serve any & all who are in need at this time – just let us know how you’re doing & how we can help.

“How good & pleasant it is” indeed – connect to life TODAY!
